The Parramatta Eels have strengthened the core of their NRLW program, announcing that inspirational forward and Papua New Guinean superstar Elsie Albert has officially re-signed with the club for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The news comes as a significant statement of belief, future ambition, and respect—both for the blue and gold jersey and for the woman who has become one of the league’s most influential figures.
Parramatta General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said the club is thrilled to retain a leader whose impact reaches far beyond the scoreboard.
“Elsie is an exceptional player and person, and we’re proud to see her continue her journey here at Parramatta,” O’Neill said. “Her leadership, work ethic, and presence on and off the field have made a huge impact on our playing group and the wider community. We know she’ll continue to be a driving force in our pursuit of success in the coming seasons.”
For Albert, the decision came from the heart. From her very first day at Parramatta, she felt she had found a home.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be staying with Parramatta,” she said. “From the moment I joined the Club, I’ve felt a strong sense of belonging and support from my teammates, the staff, and our amazing fans. Wearing the blue and gold means a lot to me, and I can’t wait to keep building on what we’ve started and make our supporters proud.”
Albert’s legacy continues to grow. A trailblazer for Papua New Guinea rugby league, she captains the national women’s team and remains one of PNG’s brightest sporting role models. She first entered the NRLW with St George Illawarra in 2020, making 15 appearances across three seasons before joining the Eels in 2023. Since arriving at Parramatta, she has added 20 games and firmly established herself as a feared defender, a powerful ball-carrier, and a respected leader.
Her re-signing is also a strategic piece of Parramatta’s long-term vision. The Eels are continuing to build a competitive NRLW foundation centred on culture, leadership, development, and community—and in every one of those pillars, Albert stands tall.
This move ensures that the next chapter of the Eels’ journey will be written with strength, pride, and heart.
And with Elsie Albert locked in through 2027, blue and gold fans can celebrate:
The Queen stays home.
