When love finds its perfect place, when culture becomes the heartbeat of a moment, and when two souls choose forever surrounded by warm island skies โ the world canโt help but smile.
In a celebration overflowing with joy, tradition, and family, Manly Sea Eagles star Martin Taupau has officially married long-time partner Michelle Baillie in a breathtaking ceremony in Samoa โ his homeland, his heart, and the place where their story found its sweetest chapter yet.
Taupau, 29, traveled to Samoa shortly after the NRL season concluded, where he and Baillie exchanged vows at the luxurious Taumeasina Island Resort. With 150 family members, teammates, friends, and NRL colleagues in attendance, the ceremony blended stunning island scenery with heartfelt emotion.
โIt was the most magical moment of my life,โ Taupau told Confidential. โTo be in Samoa with our children, our family, and our friends while I married the love of my life โ thereโs nothing more meaningful.โ
The couple, who each have two children from previous relationships, included their families beautifully in the celebration. Guests described the atmosphere as โwarm,โ โfull of laughter,โ and โdeeply emotional,โ as Taupau embraced the culture that shaped him and the people who continue to stand beside him.
Baillie later shared her own touching reflection on Instagram:
โI wish I could find the words to describe how I felt walking down the aisle. It was everything โ joy, peace, love, and gratitude.โ
Taupau echoed her sentiment on social media, posting a tender wedding portrait with the caption:
โOf course I DO!! I will love you forever.โ
Among the attendees were Manly teammates, NRL executives, and league photographer Grant Trouville, who captured the ceremony in stunning detail. Former stars Kelepi Tanginoa and Joe Gulavao were also present, with Gulavaoโs wife, Maybelle, performing during the celebration โ a moment guests described as goosebump-worthy.
The wedding capped off a milestone year for Taupau, who also signed a contract extension keeping him with the Sea Eagles until the end of 2022. The prop forward said the day reminded him of his priorities:
โThere is nothing more important to me than my wife, my family, and my culture. Iโm grateful beyond words.โ
โจ A beautiful wedding.
A proud culture.
A love worth celebrating.
