When a young dreamer finds belief, belonging, and love in Blue and Gold — something truly special is born.
The Parramatta Eels have secured a precious piece of their future, officially locking in rising star fullback Isaiah Iongi on a long-term contract extension through to the end of the 2030 NRL season. It is a move filled with optimism, trust, and a shared belief that the best chapters are still to come.
Arriving in Parramatta just 12 months ago as a rookie searching for opportunity, Iongi has rapidly transformed promise into performance. Blessed with explosive speed, dazzling footwork, and a maturity far beyond his years, the young fullback quickly became one of the most exciting emerging talents in the competition — and a fan favourite among the Blue & Gold Army.
“This past year has been surreal,” Iongi said after putting pen to paper. “I came to Parramatta for an opportunity, and now it’s become home.”
That sense of home has been shaped by strong relationships across the club, particularly with head coach Jason Ryles, the coaching staff, teammates, and the wider Eels community. The trust shown in him, Iongi says, has fuelled his growth and deepened his commitment to the jersey.
On the field, his numbers tell a compelling story. In the 2025 season, Iongi recorded eight tries, 12 try assists, and averaged more than four tackle busts per game — consistently injecting spark and creativity into Parramatta’s attack. His outstanding form earned him representative honours with Tonga at the Pacific Championships, underlining his rising status on the international stage.
Off the field, recognition followed. Iongi was named Parramatta Eels Rookie of the Year at the Ken Thornett Medal Presentation and claimed the Blue & Gold Army NRL Player of the Year — a clear reflection of how deeply supporters have embraced him.
Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill praised the young star’s impact and character, describing Iongi as a long-term leader in the making. “With his positive mindset, strong work ethic, and desire to improve, we’re incredibly excited to see him continue to evolve,” O’Neill said.
For Parramatta, this extension is more than a contract. It’s a promise — of growth, loyalty, and a future shaped by belief. And for Isaiah Iongi, it’s a heartfelt declaration that his journey, his dreams, and his heart now belong firmly in Blue and Gold. 💙💛
