Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has made an impressive debut, throwing for 264 yards and two touchdowns in his first regular-season game with Pittsburgh, a victory over the New York Jets in Week 7. One standout pass, a 30-yard completion to tight end Pat Freiermuth, caught the attention of NFL icons Bill Belichick and Peyton Manning.
On their ESPN show, *The Breakdown with Peyton and Belichick*, the duo praised Wilson’s skill on the play. Manning highlighted Wilson’s mechanics, noting, “This is a true blind bootleg. He turns his back to the defense, knows the defensive end is unblocked, and still manages to make a pinpoint throw to Freiermuth. If the throw was off, they wouldn’t have had that explosive play.”
Belichick focused on the rarity of the play, saying, “There are few who could make that play. And then to place it perfectly for Freiermuth to run for another 20 yards – that’s just excellent.”
Wilson will look to continue his strong start with the Steelers when they face the New York Giants on Monday Night Football in Week 8. With limited options at wide receiver, Wilson will once again need to rely on his precision and playmaking.
