The Pittsburgh Steelers’ potential trade cost for wide receiver Cooper Kupp has significantly risen.
The Steelers have been exploring wide receiver trade options, and Kupp is reportedly high on their list. However, after the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8, the situation has become more complicated.
Rams head coach Sean McVay emphasized his desire to keep Kupp, stating, “I’m really glad to have Cooper Kupp back with us, and I expect it to stay that way.” McVay wants to prevent any trade discussions for Kupp, though that may not eliminate the possibility. The Rams, currently 3-4, might still consider moving the 31-year-old star if the right offer comes along. However, they won’t let him go cheaply. After Kupp’s five-catch, 51-yard performance in his return from an ankle injury, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the asking price for Kupp has now risen.
“If a team does talk to the Rams about trading for him, the price just went way up,” Russini noted.
Alongside the Steelers, the Kansas City Chiefs (before acquiring DeAndre Hopkins) and Buffalo Bills have shown interest in Kupp. The Steelers are reportedly prepared to increase their offer, given Kupp’s strong track record, though how high they’re willing to go is uncertain.
Expect Pittsburgh to intensify its search for a new wide receiver over the coming week, whether that’s Kupp or other names like Christian Kirk or Darius Slayton, as they look to add a strong partner for George Pickens.
