The Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Louisville Cardinals 93-85 in a thrilling rivalry game, marking Mark Pope’s first victory over Louisville as Kentucky’s head coach. Lamont Butler had a historic performance, scoring a career-high 33 points, including a perfect 10-of-10 from the field and 6-of-6 from three-point range. This feat tied for the second-best long-range shooting performance in Kentucky history.

The Wildcats were dominant across multiple facets of the game, including shooting 58.2% from the field and 52.4% from three-point range. They also won the rebound battle 41-31 and racked up 23 assists, with Butler contributing six. Otega Oweh scored 17 points, maintaining his streak of double-figure games this season. Jaxson Robinson added 12 points, while Andrew Carr had 10 points and led the team with nine rebounds.

Kentucky’s offensive efficiency and strong team play helped them build a lead, although Louisville made runs throughout the game. However, timely shooting and defensive plays allowed Kentucky to maintain control and secure the victory.

The Wildcats improved to 10-1, while Louisville fell to 6-5. Kentucky will next face Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic in New York City.
