Florida Gators forward Alex Condon has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility, allowing him the option to return for his junior season. The announcement, made Wednesday, was widely anticipated following Florida’s recent national championship win.
In an interview after the title game, Condon indicated his intent to test the draft waters to gather feedback from NBA teams but expressed his desire to potentially return to Gainesville. “I’m probably going to test the waters to see the feedback I get from different teams, but I’m still hoping to come back to college and prove myself another year,” he said.
Condon is currently projected as a late first-round pick by On3 (28th) and ESPN (29th), while Bleacher Report has him slotted in the second round (40th). The Australian-born sophomore earned second-team All-SEC honors this season, averaging 10.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and leading the Gators with 49 blocks.
Florida head coach Todd Golden confirmed the decision, noting ongoing discussions with Condon and his family. Golden emphasized the program’s commitment to supporting players’ professional aspirations. “He’s put himself in a position to be evaluated and considered for the draft… he’s in a win-win situation,” Golden said.
Condon echoed that sentiment in his Instagram statement, thanking Gator Nation, his coaches, teammates, and family for their support. He called his time at Florida an “absolute honor” and described winning a national title as an unforgettable moment.
“He enjoys going here so much,” Golden added, highlighting the strong relationship between Condon and the program. While Florida hopes to retain their standout forward, the next few weeks will be critical in determining whether Condon begins his professional career or returns to defend the Gators’ title.
As Condon begins the draft evaluation process, including potential workouts and a likely NBA Combine invite, his final decision will hinge on the feedback he receives. For now, both paths remain open for one of Florida’s key championship contributors.
