Kentucky forward Trent Noah, affectionately known as the “Mountain Mamba,” is officially returning to Lexington for his sophomore season. The Harlan, KY native confirmed the news on social media Friday, expressing his excitement with the caption, “still chasing 9” — a nod to Kentucky’s pursuit of its ninth national championship.
Noah, a 6-foot-5 wing, appeared in 24 games as a true freshman in the 2024-25 season. Despite modest averages of 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per game, he showed flashes of his potential, especially late in the season when injuries created opportunities for him. He shot an efficient 45.1% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc.
One of his standout performances came against the Tennessee Volunteers. On the road, he posted five points and a rebound, but in the rematch at Rupp Arena, Noah put up 11 points, two rebounds, and an assist. He also recorded four points and six rebounds in the SEC Tournament matchup against Oklahoma and had eight games with three or more rebounds.
Noah’s journey to Kentucky began after a historic high school career at Harlan County High, where he became the fifth all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school history with 3,707 points. Initially committed to South Carolina, he flipped to Kentucky after Mark Pope took over as head coach in 2024.
His return marks the third confirmed for the Wildcats’ upcoming season. Center Brandon Garrison (rising junior) and guard Collin Chandler (rising sophomore) have already announced they’ll be back in blue. Meanwhile, senior guard Otega Oweh has declared for the NBA Draft but is maintaining college eligibility, leaving the door open for a possible return.
The 2025-26 Kentucky roster is taking shape with a strong mix of returners and incoming talent. New additions include guards Kam Williams and Jaland Lowe, forwards Mouhamed Dioubate and Jayden Quaintance, and center Andrija Jelavic. Top freshmen Malachi Moreno and Jasper Johnson will also join the fold.
With Noah’s return, Kentucky adds continuity, grit, and sharpshooting to its lineup. Big Blue Nation can expect continued growth from a player who is passionate about representing his home state and chasing greatness in a Wildcats uniform.
