Happy Big Blue Birthday to Anchorage’s Own “Razor” Ramon Harris — Kentucky’s Quiet Force

Today, the Big Blue Nation tips its cap and sends warm birthday wishes to one of its most beloved unsung heroes — “Razor” Ramon Harris (#5), a standout Wildcat from Anchorage, Alaska. Harris, known for his hustle, grit, and team-first mentality, left a lasting impact on the Kentucky basketball program during his time from 2006 to 2010.

Before making his mark at Rupp Arena, Harris was already a household name in Alaska basketball. He earned the prestigious titles of 2006 Mr. Basketball for the State of Alaska and Gatorade State Player of the Year, highlighting his dominance on the court and his leadership off it. His rise from the frosty courts of Anchorage to the spotlight of Lexington was a testament to his work ethic, discipline, and passion for the game.

Ramon Harris may not have been the flashiest player on the roster, but his contributions were crucial. In his four years as a Kentucky Wildcat, he accumulated 358 points, 294 rebounds, 108 assists, 60 steals, and 28 blocks. He carved out a niche as a defensive stopper, often tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best scorer. Coaches relied on his versatility, toughness, and willingness to do the dirty work — the kind of effort that doesn’t always show up in box scores but wins games.

Nicknamed “Razor” for his sharp play and tenacity, Harris became a fan favorite because of his relentless motor and humble attitude. He embodied what it meant to be a true Wildcat — putting the team above personal glory, bringing energy every night, and doing whatever it took to help Kentucky succeed.

Though he played alongside more high-profile names and future NBA stars, Harris’s leadership and consistency were invaluable during a time of transition for the program. Whether it was diving for loose balls, making the extra pass, or locking down opponents on defense, he brought heart to every minute he played.

As he celebrates another year today, the Big Blue Nation remembers Ramon Harris not just for his stats, but for his spirit. Happy Birthday, Razor — Kentucky thanks you for your grit, your loyalty, and for wearing the blue and white with pride.
