Myles Herro, younger brother of NBA All-Star and Miami Heat standout Tyler Herro, is officially set to join the Ohio State Buckeyes as part of the 2025 recruiting class. The announcement, made on Monday, marks a significant milestone for the 6-foot-3 point guard, who has shown promise both as a scorer and facilitator throughout his high school career.
Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler secured Herro’s commitment over other offers from Southern Illinois, Cal Poly, and Western Illinois. Though Myles did not crack the ESPN 100 rankings, his stats from Whitnall High School in Wisconsin speak volumes about his potential. Last season, he averaged 21.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, showcasing his versatility as a backcourt leader.
Myles also turned heads on the AAU circuit while playing with Team Herro, his brother’s namesake squad in the Nike EYBL. There, he proved his skills as a facilitator, averaging 5.3 assists per game against some of the toughest competition in the country.
Much like his older brother, Myles has had to navigate being overlooked by national scouts. Tyler Herro famously used his high school snubs as motivation, ultimately starring at Kentucky before becoming the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Myles seems ready to carve his own path, building on Tyler’s legacy while bringing his unique strengths to the table.
Ohio State’s backcourt depth has been bolstered significantly by Herro’s addition, especially following the recent news that 6-foot-5 guard Dorian Jones will not be enrolling for the upcoming season. This makes Myles’ commitment even more critical for the Buckeyes, who will look to him to provide scoring, playmaking, and leadership.
