LEXINGTON, Ky. — After a promising freshman season, sophomore forward Brandon Garrison is embracing Kentucky not just as his team, but as his home. As the Wildcats begin their preparations for the 2025–26 season, Garrison’s commitment, confidence, and connection to the program under head coach Mark Pope are stronger than ever.

Originally from Oklahoma City, Garrison arrived in Lexington with high expectations. The former McDonald’s All-American was a top-50 recruit in the 2024 class and chose Kentucky over several national powerhouses. Now, after a solid freshman campaign that showed flashes of his long-term potential, Garrison is stepping into a larger role — both on and off the court.

“I feel like I really belong here,” Garrison said during offseason workouts. “Kentucky feels like home. The fans, the coaching staff, my teammates — everyone here pushes me to be the best version of myself. I’m all in.”

Last season, Garrison averaged 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, primarily coming off the bench. His defensive presence and rebounding ability gave the Wildcats a dependable post option, especially during key SEC matchups. With several key players graduating or heading to the NBA, Garrison is now expected to take on a leadership role and anchor the frontcourt.

Head coach Mark Pope has been vocal about his belief in Garrison’s potential. “Brandon is the kind of player every coach wants — coachable, tough, and always improving,” Pope said. “He’s had a great offseason, and I think fans are going to see a more confident and dominant version of him this year.”

Garrison has spent the summer refining his offensive skill set, adding a mid-range jumper to his arsenal and working on footwork in the post. His efforts have impressed coaches and teammates alike, and expectations are rising for a breakout year.

With a new-look Wildcats roster and Pope’s second year at the helm, Kentucky is eyeing a return to national prominence. Garrison, now more comfortable and confident, could be the key to unlocking their full potential.

“This is where I want to be,” Garrison said. “I’m ready to lead, to win, and to bring something special to Big Blue Nation.”

For Kentucky fans, those words are music to their ears — and a sign that the best is truly yet to come.
