In a stunning show of loyalty and generosity, former Nebraska Cornhusker and NFL Pro Bowler Ndamukong Suh announced a $10.8 million donation to the University of Nebraska’s new stadium renovation project, led by current head coach Matt Rhule.
Standing before a crowd of media, students, and alumni at Memorial Stadium this morning, Suh—clad in Husker red—spoke emotionally about his enduring bond with the program and his desire to invest in the future of Nebraska football.
“Nebraska lives within me wherever I go,” Suh said. “This place shaped me—not just as an athlete, but as a man. This is about giving back to the school, the fans, and the legacy that helped launch my career. I believe in what Coach Rhule is building here, and I’m proud to help take it to the next level.”
The $10.8 million donation is one of the largest single gifts ever made by a former Nebraska athlete and is set to support the ongoing modernization of Memorial Stadium, including expanded training facilities, locker rooms, fan experiences, and community engagement spaces.
Coach Rhule, visibly moved by the gesture, praised Suh’s leadership both on and off the field.
“This is more than a donation,” Rhule said. “It’s a statement. Suh’s commitment sends a powerful message to current and future Huskers. He’s showing that this program is a family, and that legacy doesn’t end when you leave campus—it grows.”
Suh’s gift will also fund a new sports science wing, to be named the Suh Performance Center, focused on player health, recovery, and innovation in strength and conditioning.
Athletic Director Troy Dannen called the donation “transformational.”
“What Ndamukong has done today will impact Husker football for generations,” Dannen said. “He’s reinforcing a culture of excellence and loyalty that defines Nebraska athletics.”
Suh, who retired from the NFL in 2023 after an illustrious 13-year career, including a Super Bowl title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, continues to serve as a philanthropist and entrepreneur. But, as he made clear, Nebraska remains at the heart of his journey.
“I owe so much to this place,” Suh said with a smile. “Now it’s time to pay it forward.”
