This year’s Crimson Camp was nothing short of spectacular, as nearly 275 high school students from five different states converged on the University of Alabama campus for a musical experience that blended performance, discipline, and unforgettable memories. Hosted by the renowned Million Dollar Band, the 2025 edition of the camp marked a historic first: students delivered a fully memorized performance that included instrumental playing, precision marching, and dynamic choreography — all in just three days.
The intensity and excitement were palpable from day one. Campers jumped into sessions focused on musicianship, leadership, and ensemble skills, guided by expert instructors and student leaders from the Million Dollar Band. From early-morning rehearsals to evening sectionals under the stadium lights, every moment was designed to sharpen their craft and ignite their passion for band culture.
A special highlight of the camp was the outstanding work with the 39 drum majors, who were mentored by two distinguished leaders in the marching world: Elayna Youngson, of Carolina Crown, and Leigh Thomas, of Bob Jones High School. Their leadership, insight, and high standards left a lasting impression on the next generation of conductors and motivators.
We’re also grateful for the band directors who participated in the director clinic — a dedicated space to share ideas, techniques, and resources to continue raising the bar for high school band programs across the Southeast.
Crimson Camp wouldn’t be possible without the tireless dedication of the Million Dollar Band staff and student leaders, whose energy, commitment, and enthusiasm made the experience both educational and inspiring for every camper. Their behind-the-scenes efforts ensured everything ran smoothly and safely, while maintaining the spirit of excellence that defines the University of Alabama’s music tradition.
As the final notes rang out and the performers marched off the field, one thing was clear: this year’s Crimson Camp didn’t just create music — it created memories, mentorships, and momentum for young musicians across the region.
Planning for next year is already in motion, and we can’t wait to welcome even more future stars. Until then… #RollTide and see you next year!
