From the rolling hills of Morgantown to the top of the global stage, the West Virginia Mountaineers Cheerleading Squad has officially been crowned the #1 Cheerleading Team on the Planet by ESPN, following a breathtaking performance at the 2025 UCA & UDA College Nationals!
The competition, held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, brought together the best collegiate cheerleading programs from across the globe—but none could match the precision, spirit, and raw passion of the Mountaineers.
From flawless pyramids to gravity-defying stunts, the Mountaineers delivered a routine that had fans, judges, and fellow competitors rising to their feet. The final score put West Virginia at the very top, surpassing perennial powerhouses like Kentucky, Alabama, and LSU. But this year, the gold belongs to the Blue and Gold.
“This team is more than just athleticism—it’s heart, it’s discipline, and it’s Mountaineer pride,” said Head Coach Lindsay Daniels after the historic win. “We came to represent our school, our state, and our story—and we left everything out on the floor. To come out as world champions is just unbelievable.”
What makes this triumph even sweeter is the journey. The Mountaineers’ program has steadily climbed the ranks in recent years, building a reputation for creativity, strength, and unity. But 2025 marks the moment they ascended to the global crown. Their winning routine—set to a medley celebrating Appalachian roots and West Virginia pride—was both technically perfect and emotionally powerful.
