Yhonzae Pierre Ruled Out Against South Carolina, Injury Updates on Two Alabama Wide Receivers.
Alabama linebacker Yhonzae Pierre will miss the upcoming game against South Carolina, according to head coach Kalen DeBoer. During the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday, DeBoer confirmed that Pierre, who posted a photo from a hospital bed on Instagram with the caption “Just a minor setback for a major comeback,” is dealing with an undisclosed injury.
“Yhonzae won’t be with us this weekend due to his injury,” DeBoer said. “We didn’t get the full details until later yesterday, so we’re expecting him to be out for this weekend. We’ll see beyond that.”
Pierre has played in all five games this season, recording four tackles and two pass breakups. His absence means teammates Qua Russaw and Que Robinson will likely see more playing time in the WOLF linebacker rotation during Saturday’s game.
DeBoer also provided updates on wide receivers Kendrick Law and Kobe Prentice, both of whom are recovering from injuries. “They’re both participating in workouts and progressing as expected,” DeBoer said. “While they’re not at full-go yet, they’re on pace and getting some individual and team reps.”
Alabama, ranked No. 7, will face South Carolina at Saban Field Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. CT, with the game airing on ABC.
