Brenden Anes recently explained his decision to switch his commitment from Wisconsin to Tennessee, a choice he made on Halloween. Anes, a three-star linebacker from Page High School in Tennessee, shared his reasoning with *Tennessee on SI*, emphasizing the importance of staying close to home.
Anes highlighted that being near his family was a significant factor, as it allows them to attend his home games and support him throughout his college career. He also praised Tennessee’s coaching staff, particularly Coach Inge and Coach Heupel, who have been consistent in their recruitment efforts. Coach Heupel’s high regard for Coach Inge’s teaching and coaching style further influenced Anes’ decision, especially after he attended a Tennessee practice and saw firsthand how Coach Inge works with the linebackers.
Anes acknowledged that Tennessee’s standing as an SEC program helped set it apart. He appreciated Coach Heupel’s description of the SEC as “the NFL of college football,” which offers him a chance to compete against top national talent. Anes also noted the electric atmosphere at Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium and expressed his excitement at the prospect of contributing to the Vols’ championship aspirations, hoping to bring a title home to Tennessee.
Since making his decision public, Anes has felt immense support from Tennessee fans. He expressed gratitude for their enthusiasm, saying it motivates him to work hard and make them proud. Anes plans to return to Tennessee on the 23rd for an official visit weekend, joining other 2025 recruits.
