Kim Rothstein said it was love, not money, that drew her to big-tipping, large-living attorney Scott Rothstein, whom she met while waiting tables at a Fort Lauderdale cocktail bar. He popped the question three weeks after their first date, and they married in January 2008.
Two years later, he was arrested by federal authorities, and he was later found guilty for running a $1.4 million Ponzi scheme out of his Fort Lauderdale law office. Kim Rothstein, who shopped enough to shame Marie Antoinette, was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2013 for trying to hide $1 million in jewelry from investigators.
Her freedom and her divorce was granted last year. Scott Rothstein remains in federal prison, serving a 50-year sentence.
